CITIZENS WANTED TO DISCOVER THE CITY!
12TH EDITION OF MONTREAL JANE’S WALK

Montreal, March 6th 2020 – The Montréal Urban Ecology Centre (MUEC) is in search of city enthusiasts to lead one (or a few!) walk(s) during the 12th edition of Montreal Jane’s Walk on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2020. Organized by and for citizens, these walks are a great opportunity to (re)discover the city and its secrets while showcasing the diversity of Greater Montreal.

“No need to be an expert. It’s just about sharing with other citizens on urban topics you are passionate about. All subjects are welcome. What’s important is your willingness to celebrate the city on foot or even by bike!”, says Véronique Fournier, Executive Director of the MUEC.

What’s new on the 12th edition
This year, a team of facilitators will visit organisations from different boroughs in Montreal to democratize the participation in this citizen event, by offering a short and free workshop. Some time slots are still available. Organisations requiring additional information can write to us on promenadejane@ecologieurbaine.net. In addition, a brand-new tool will be launched to make it possible to experience Jane’s Walk throughout the year. Stay tuned!

An online platform by and for citizens
The MUEC host information meetings (online and onsite), a website where citizens can register and promote their walk, as well as finding adaptable promotional tools. In short, the website has everything needed to facilitate the self-organization of a walk! Citizens and organisations are invited to register their walk online at promenadesdejane.com before April 3rd.

Paying Tribute to Jane Jacobs Across the Globe and Thanks to Donations
Jane’s Walk are held simultaneously in over hundred cities around the world in honour of Jane Jacobs, a writer, activist and philosopher of architecture and urbanism. In 2019, 80 walks took place across the Greater Montreal area. This free citizen event, where everybody is welcome, is made possible thanks to generous donor support. To make a donation or find more information about the event, visit promenadesdejane.com.
