How's a person supposed to have fun in this place? Drinking and entertainment in NDG in the 20th century (complet)

Notre-Dame-de-Grâce was once described as a place where “people were too respectable to sit on their front porches at night.” Never officially “dry,” the neighbourhood prided itself on keeping drinking establishments and pool halls out of the neighbourhood. The first licenced tavern opened there only in 1958! So, what did people do for fun there? This tour looks at a few of the places where the people of NDG gathered to meet their friends, watch movies, and perhaps have a drink or two.
